A very successful 5th Mediterranean Yacht Show took place this year from 28 April to 1 May in Nafplion, during which attendees from the international yachting world had the opportunity to inspect the largest number of participating yachts to date. The event, which is organised annually by the Greek Yachting Association, is the most important event in Greece for yachting tourism.

This year, 107 luxury crewed yachts available for charter gathered in the historic port and established MEDYS as the No 1 charter show worldwide in terms of the number of participating yachts. During the four-day event, more than 400 professionals arrived to view the superb showcase of yachts and to familiarise themselves with the first-class standard of available boats, as well as meeting the extremely professional captains & crews.

A long line-up of important regional and national dignitaries involved in marine tourism were present at the opening ceremony, which signalled the beginning of four days of yacht parties, themed events and happenings. Nafplion was alive with the sound of yacht talk while locals and visitors to the town had the opportunity to witness a truly impressive array of luxury yachts in one location. The event wrapped up with a celebratory farewell party, during which the winners of the exciting Chefs’ Competition were congratulated for their extraordinary culinary skills.

The great turn-out this year is a very positive sign for yachting tourism in Greece, which continues to go from strength to strength. Attracting an increased level of interest from professionals within the global market each year, the event is the perfect springboard in which to continue to promote the region as a world-class yachting destination, with the invaluable contribution of the local CA’s.

The 5th Mediterranean Yacht Show was organized by the Greek Yachting Association under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism with the kind support of the Municipality of Nafplion and the Region of the Peloponnese.
