7th Mediterranean Yacht Show
The largest yacht charter show in the world was organised once again in Greece placing yachting at the centre of global attention!
- 90 registered crewed professional yachts
- More than 610 professionals from 30 countries
The Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS), the largest exhibition of professional crewed yachts in the world, which took place from April 30th to May 4th, 2022, returned to the port of Nafplion more dynamically than ever. After 2 years of absence due to the pandemic and following the highly successful events - including the first international Virtual Yacht Charter Shows, in 2020 and 2021, and the 2021 Roadshow Open Marina Days in the marinas of Athens, the MEDYS returned for the 7th year, highlighting once again the superiority of yachting in Greece.
The Show, organised by the Greek Yachting Association with the support of the Municipality of Nafplion, had 90 registered yachts with a cumulative length of over 3.4 kilometres (with an additional 20 on a waiting list due to lack of space). The Show was also attended by more than 610 yacht brokers and industry professionals from around the world who had the opportunity to see the yachts available for charter up-close, to get to know their crews and to be informed about the possibilities and options they offer.
The Mediterranean Yacht Show remains the largest in the world in terms of attendance, above the exhibitions in Antigua and Barcelona, which cover the markets of the Western Hemisphere and the Western Mediterranean respectively.
The opening of the event took place on April 30th by the President of the Greek Yachting Association, Mr. Michael Skoulikidis, in the presence of the Mayor of Nafplion, Mr. Dimitrios Kostouros, the General Secretary of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments, Mr. Evangelos Kiriazopoulos, Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Mr. Panagiotis Nikas.
In his welcome speech, Mr. Michael Skoulikidis mentioned the competitive advantages of Greek yachting and noted the dynamics and absolute adequacy in quantity and quality of yachts with a Greek Professional License, emphasising: “We have multiple times more yachts -totalling a cumulative length of over 3.4 kilometres- and bigger in length than all the craft that were on exhibit in France, Italy and Spain together”. At the same time, Mr. Skoulikidis pointed out the need for additional and coordinated actions to support Greek yachting, which is also the spearhead of the tourism industry.
